大学在籍中は臨床のみならず研究にも励んでおりました。また、2011年から2013年の2年間ボストン ハーバード大学マサチューセッツ総合病院に、 ポストドクトラルフェローとして在籍。研究発表は基礎研究から臨床研究まで多岐にわたっており、糖尿病患者、心筋梗塞患者、腎臓病患者、メタボリック症候群患者の冠動脈の特徴などを明らかにし、 実臨床に基づいた数多くの研究成果を挙げました。日本国内においても基幹病院と連携をとり臨床研究に参加することで得た膨大な知識により、“糖尿病、そして心臓と血管のスペシャリスト”としての地位を確立しています。
